Gathering footage for Project Pedestrian began in March, 2025 in Paris and Lyon, France, and the majority of shooting will take place in Regina, Saskatchewan and Toronto, Ontario in summer and fall 2025, and winter 2026. Edited versions should begin to appear in 2026.
A brief excerpt of a walk I did with Ken Wilson along the Regina Bypass, which provides the route for Ken’s book Walking The Bypass, released in October 2025 by University of Regina Press. The audio is from the mic on the camera, but much better audio exists for editing from the lavalier mics we were wearing. You may notice I let Ken walk closest to the oncoming traffic; he has experience on this road.
A brief excerpt of a walk I did with Laura Pfeifer in the neighbourhood in Regina she grew up in. Laura is an urban planner, and has worked for the City of Toronto and now for the City of Regina.
A brief excerpt of a walk I did in Regina with Tasha Alexson. Tash has lived in Regina for a few years now, and got to know the city by walking around in it. We did a walk through part of Regina’s under-construction downtown, and the neighbourhood south of downtown where we’ve both lived (the audio is from the mic on the camera, we have better audio from the mics we were wearing).
A brief excerpt of a walk I did with Shawn Micallef in a neighbourhood in Toronto we’re both familiar with: Bloor Street between Dufferin and Dovercourt. Shawn is, among other things, the author of Stroll: Pyschogeographic Walking Tours of Toronto (the audio is from the mic on the camera, we have better audio from the mics we were wearing).
A walk through a traboule in Vieux Lyon with a 360-degree camera. I shot footage in a number of traboules in Lyon and will be bringing them together in a future post. Depending on the device you watch this on, you’ll be able to manipulate the footage to view in 360-degrees, or you’ll see a bizarre and comic “flat” version.
An excerpt of the first walk recorded for Project Pedestrian, a cinematic pilgrimmage across Paris from Montmartre to Montparnasse to visit the grave of the great filmmaker Agnes Varda.
